Congratulations to UPMC Award for Commitment to Excellence in Service (ACES) Honorees Jatinder Babbar, MD, and Nadeem Ahmed, MD

Please join us in congratulating Jatinder Babbar, MD (Assistant Professor of Psychiatry), and Nadeem Ahmed, MD (UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital Adult Services physician), who have received 2024 UPMC Award for Commitment to Excellence in Service (ACES). The prestigious ACES, received by less than 1% of UPMC staff annually, honors individuals who routinely go above and beyond.
Dr. Babbar is medical director of the Adult Mood and Anxiety Disorders Clinic at UPMC Western Psychiatric Hospital (WPH). His award nominators note that he is “a clinician and teacher at heart, and he brings these passions to his role as a leader, which inspires others.” In addition, Dr. Babbar “wraps his work around a particular person’s needs by taking the time to get to know the entirety of the situation beyond presenting symptoms.” He is an outstanding communicator, talented at quickly summarizing case conceptualization, always willing to explain his rationale for clinical decisions, and always available for consultation. Dr. Babbar is known for approaching both basic questions and complex consultations with a high degree of patience and respect for the learner.
Dr. Ahmed, an inpatient attending physician at WPH, is known among his colleagues for commitment to providing highest quality care. “He creates a workplace culture that provides a safe environment to explore treatment, and meticulously combs through documentation to ensure he has the entire clinical picture. He has successfully managed several catatonic patients on the unit, which has been nothing short of miraculous.” Dr. Ahmed’s outstanding contributions include accompanying his patients on their way to meet with other providers, to build trust and ensure continuity of care. He is known as gracious, courteous, and attentive, as well as conscientious about making time to talk to every patient.
Congratulations to ACES honorees Dr. Babbar and Dr. Ahmed!
